current mood: annoyed

:( I have a bunch of fics saved on Microsoft Office's trail thing because I didn't realise I had Word and now I can't do anything with them. I can't even copy and bloody paste those into Words, so I'm going to have to type them all out again.

You know unless someone knows something I don't which is always possible.

Oh yeah and the Howard thing- sort of went well, in that I got to see him very close up but not to interact with in anyway :( but I was pissed by the time he came on at 1.30am and gave up just looking at him after about half an hour. Bit of a waste of time, but I'm still glad I went.

Can you save them in some other format?

I have no clue what you mean by the trail thing, but if you can save it as txt or html or rtf other programs can read them.

If you want to email one to me I can check and see if Open Office can read them.

James - wtf?

Got my i and a mixed up I meant 'trial!' I can't do anything to it at all, cos I was going to do that. None of the buttons do anything nor are lit up.

I'm pretty sure I can't even email stuff, IO'll see if I can tomorrow though, thank you!

The trial period ran out on you.

It sounds like it's the 'let's change the file format so the old programs can't read them' that Microsoft has done before.

So what you need is something that can read that file format. I'm hoping that the latest version of Open Office can do that. If not, I'll look around for something that can.

Oh yeah I know that bit, I just assumed I would still be able to do things to what I'd already written :/

I'm not sure if I'll be be able to email it or not, since I can't do anything else but thanks. Hopefully I'll know by tomorrow *hugs*

You should be able to manipulate the files with other programs, otherwise I'm sure the outrage of people who'd lost days of work would be heard.

If you're using Windows XP as your operating system, you should be able to get at them with Windows Explorer, and at least move them about. And you should be able to attach them to an email and send them.

The only thing you can't do is open them with the dead program. (I assume that this has made you decide NOT to buy it.)

I'm sure we can get your files back for you. I'm off tomorrow, so I can get back to you while you're still awake. ^_^

{{{hugs}}}

James- grin

I'm on the dreaded Windows Vista now and am generally pretty rubbish with computers, but I'll have a play around tomorrow and see if I can work stuff out.

What made me decide not to buy it is the fact it cost a lot of money and as it turns out I have Word anyway which I like better even if it a bit more fiddly/ But the spacing and stuff was odd on Office, it made it harder to write cos it threw me off (it doesn't take a lot!)

Thanks a lot it's muchly appreciated!

I don't know about Vista, but I am sure there is _something_ where you can look at your files and move them around.

I also found this: http://docx-converter.com/ this: http://www.ghacks.net/2007/12/10/ways-to-open-office-docx-documents/ and this: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HA100444731033.aspx

Hiya, way too long no speaky! Had any luck with the dreaded Office? I'm not too hot on that sort of thing so I don't think I can be much help, but just wanted to say squeeeeee for Howard! Also, I've been doodling about with banners for TT_slash community...obviously I'm not much cop at it, but if you wanted something before a proper good banner-maker comes along then feel free to use one - the biggest problem is finding pics that aren't blurry/non-slashy...

Jay/How Relight kiss

You just don't love me enough :( I sort of never quite for round to trying to sort it actually, damn technology! I might just end up retyping stuff.

There are many many slashy videos, I think Sure's pretty slashy, they all live together in one big house, which clearly means they all shag at night, yes?

I love the second one for the sheer slashiness of it, thank you darlin'!
