[info]britgeekgrrl who founded and mods [info]dw_cosplay lost her husband to cancer last week. A community, [info]britgeek_love, has been set up to help her cover funeral expenses, and other expenses. Please check out the comm and see if there's any thing that you would like to buy or bid on. You can also make a post to sell items or start an auction for goods and services with all the monies going to britgeekgrrl of course. If you're a member of [info]dw_cosplay you have probably already seen the post and know that you can just donate to her directly.

I'd love this dress for New Year http://www.newlook.co.uk/1874484/187448412/ProductDetails.aspx but I don't like to go bare legged so I usually wear tights or leggings. What colour tights would look right with the dress (I'm planning on wearing black heels)

I hate when people get defensive over one small comment made about something. Especially when it wasn't meant to start a giant fight or problem, it was just to state that an assumption was wrong or pulled from the wrong information.

And then after having a decent point presented in response to their novel length argument, they just up and ignore you. No solving the problem. No return comment to try and work shit out. Just a month of silence and ignoring you.

For starters, I though we were friends. Apparently I was wrong.

As well, I thought we were all adults.
You know, grown-ups that worked things out with polite words and prompt responses because we wanted to stay friends.
Apparently I was wrong about that too.

At least I know where we stand now...I guess.

It's like forgetting the words to your favourite song
by hey, open wide here comes original sin ([info]sophieisgod)

HEY KIDS HEY! I have had a rather fun-filled few days, so let's talk about that, shall we?

I TOTALLY SAW REGINA SPEKTOR ON FRIDAY. Setlist! Ahh, she was delightful, delightful. Highlights for me were Two Birds, On The Radio, The Call (Kathryn HATES this song, it amuses me greatly), Dance Anthem of the 80s, aaaand the whole of the encore. I AM IN LOVE, IN LOVE.

Cock! )
Before the show, we saw Tim Vincent (LOL BLUE PETER) and Rufus Wainwright on the King's Road! My sister did slightly better re: celebrity encounters, though; she went to the evening performance as opposed to the matinee, and saw Ralph Fiennes, Rafe Spall, and Hattie Morahan and Blake Ritson being all adorable and engaged and shit.

I have Merlin thoughts that are pretty much like everyone else's Merlin thoughts, but I shall summarise them here anyway!
Merlin 2.11: The Witch's Quickening )
How awkwardly precious was Bradley "hot in a temperature sense" James on Secrets and Magic this week, by the by? And look! The anightlessordinary.org.uk folks are teasing us. BOYYYYS.

One more reason to love the Guardian: Peter Capaldi tops the Chart of Lust 2009

I finally finished Hilary Mantel's French Revolution novel, A Place of Greater Safety. BISEXUAL FRENCH REVOLUTIONARIES FTW! Where Wolf Hall kind of draws you into Cromwell's murkier dealings in increments, this novel builds and builds momentum, as you see friendships strained and principles stretched to the limit. There is a gaping French Revolution-shaped gap in my knowledge, though, so any recs, fictional or otherwise, would be greatly appreciated.

How are you? ♥

Why I'd make a lousy companion...

Midway through Genesis of the Daleks, the Doctor (as played by Tom Baker) has the opportunity to destroy all of the Daleks in one fell swoop. He has a wonderful soliloquy about whether or not he has the right to destroy an entire species, even if they're the Daleks.

If I were there, the conversation would have been a lot shorter:

Doctor: holds bomb wires in each hand Dare I have the right?

Me: Yup! yoinks wires away from the Doctor, blows up Dalek nursery

I suspect I'd have gotten along a little better with Nine...
